Flaanimal 4.0 or 4.1?
Hello, I ordered a 56cm Flaanimal 4.1 and when it came, I noticed it says Flaanimal 4.0 on the top tube. I think the difference between a 4.0 and a 4.1 is that the 4.1 has a 47mm bottom bracket shell? Is this frame a 4.0 or a 4.1? Are there other differences?
I love the frame and am looking forward to building a really nice commuter bike.

You are correct. Any Flaanimal with a T47BB is a 4.1. We didn’t update the TT graphics because it was a minor spec change. Sorry for the confusion!

Do you make any bikes in the 48 or 50 cm range?
I’m 5’2″ on a good day. I’m not seeing anything under 52 cm. Do you have any smaller frames? (Pinkies crossed).

We do have a select few 48cm and 50cm Flaanimal 4.0 in stock in Pine Cone (Brown), Orange (Chocolate Creamsicle), and Bleaux Deaux (Blue). 4.0 are almost exactly identical to 4.1 frames except for having a standard BSA 68mm threaded bottom bracket instead of T47 68mm threaded bottom brackets. The BB spec change won’t affect 95% of riders.

front rack compatibility
Hello,
I have an Tubus Duo lowrider front rack. According to Ortlieb: “designed two-part front carrier system for mid-fork braze-ons that are drilled through to both sides of the fork blade”. Would this rack fit with your fork?

Thanks for the note. Spork 2.0 does work perfectly with the Tubus Duo. We’ve tested it with the offset eyelet kit and it mounts up very nicely. Photos:

Frame size
When will the trail donkey be available in frame size 50

Unfortunately we don’t have any plans to offer a 50cm Traildonkey. There hasn’t been enough demand in that size. We would be happy to take a look at your fit to see if a 52cm might fit you. A number of people have assumed the 52 wouldn’t fit when in fact it was easy to get them set up correctly on it.

What is the recommended torque for the hangar bolt and Is threadlocker recommended?

Blue threadlocker is suitable and I have it on my personal bike. It is not required and we have not noted any incidence of derailleur hanger bolts coming lose. 7nm is adequate torque for the hanger bolt.

Sizing guidance
Hi there,
looking to see about guidance on size for a Flaanimal frame.
I’m 5 foot 8 inches and a 30 inch inseam…if that helps.

Howdy! Here is some general sizing advice. This works for about 95% of our riders with the exceptions being unique proportions or range of motion issues:
52cm
5’4”-5’6”54cm
5’6”-5’9”56cm
5’9”-6’0”58cm
6’0”-6’2” -
How much extras does it cost for custom color finish?
Hi. Interested in purchasing TrailDonkey 3.0. Going through your Instagram page, it looks like there are many other interesting custom colorway options. I was wondering how much extra it would cost for the custom color finish. Nothing too fancy. Particularly like satin dark army green with red accents or white with red accents. Secondly, which finish is more durable… satin finish or gloss finish?

The paint layout that you mentioned would cost $750.
It used to be that the matte finish was a bit more durable but the gloss was easier to clean. Our painted has switched to a more durable gloss clear though and the two seem very similar in durability.

Flaanimal front derailleur braze-on compatibility?
Hey Rodeo Labs,
I’ll be adopting a Flaanimal 4.1 Pine Cone frameset as soon as you get your new stock and was wondering if I need a front derailleur band clamp, or if there is a frame braze-on for the front derailleur attachment. I’m planning on using a Shimano 105 or Ultegra FD if that matters at all.

You do need a clamp for the FD. It is not built into the frame. The clamp should be a 31.8
We don’t build the clamp onto the frame because we want the frame to remain nice and clean for 1x drivetrain users

TD 2.0 rear dropout screws
I lost one of the small screws that holds the non-drive side, 2-piece thru axle guide together. Can you advise what size screw that is? Also, is it the same as the screws that hold the frame internal cable plates in place? If not, what size are they?

The routing endcap screws are 4mm diameter, 5mm depth, with a conical head.
The rear dropout hardware screws are 3mm diameter, 13mm depth, conical head.

Which BB do I use?
Do I use an outboard T-47 or not?
I just received my TD 2.1 frame and trying to figure this out.

Definitely always outboard T-47 on all of our frames.
