Flaanimal front derailleur braze-on compatibility?
Hey Rodeo Labs,
I’ll be adopting a Flaanimal 4.1 Pine Cone frameset as soon as you get your new stock and was wondering if I need a front derailleur band clamp, or if there is a frame braze-on for the front derailleur attachment. I’m planning on using a Shimano 105 or Ultegra FD if that matters at all.

Stephen,
You do need a clamp for the FD. It is not built into the frame. The clamp should be a 31.8
We don’t build the clamp onto the frame because we want the frame to remain nice and clean for 1x drivetrain users

TD 2.0 rear dropout screws
I lost one of the small screws that holds the non-drive side, 2-piece thru axle guide together. Can you advise what size screw that is? Also, is it the same as the screws that hold the frame internal cable plates in place? If not, what size are they?
Answer
The routing endcap screws are 4mm diameter, 5mm depth, with a conical head.
The rear dropout hardware screws are 3mm diameter, 13mm depth, conical head.

Do I use an outboard T-47 or not?
I just received my TD 2.1 frame and trying to figure this out.

Definitely always outboard T-47 on all of our frames.

Trail Donkey 2.0 Frame Screws (Hex Bolts) – What size are they?
I am replacing the original frame screws/hex bolts on my TD2.0. There appears to be 18 in total. I want to confirm the size of the bolts before ordering replacements. From what I can tell, they are M5x10mm. Is this correct?

Chris. You are correct. M5 x 10.

Power Meter Compatibility
I have a question about compatibility of the Trail Donkey 3.0 frame set with crank based power meters. Is there sufficient clearance for Stages type power meters? Are there any known issues with spider based power meters like SRAM quarq or Power2Max?

Jeff. Thanks for the question. We’ve run a very wide range of power meters on TD3 and none have shown any issues. Here is a list of what we’ve tried:
- Quarq
- Praxis / 4iii
- Easton Cinch
- Stages – requires shims to space it on the non drive side.
We haven’t tried Power2Max but I can’t think of an obvious reason they wouldn’t work. We were pretty careful to make the bike generally as compatible with a wide range of cranksets and chainrings. That doesn’t mean that someone won’t eventually find something that doesn’t work but so far so good. -
Chainring sizes
What chainring sizes do you recommend? I would like to use an Ultegra 8000, I read 50 tooth somewhere, but how would this run if a used Absolute black oval rings instead of standard round shimano?

It is definitely possible to run Absolute Black rings on the bike. Are you considering 1x or 2x?

sizing, stems and colors back in stock?
Hey there,
what length stem do y’all spec on the 54 and 56 TD3? My current road bike is a 54 but I am running a 110 stem 44 bars. I am 5.10 ish barefoot and have a 31.75 inseam barefoot. What size would you put me on? Lastly, when do you expect naked frames to be back in stock? Many thanks!

Hi Jean!
Your road setup seems really unique for fit. On a 54cm we are typically speccing about a 90mm stem but we can spec any stem length you like. At 5’10” you would traditionally fit a 56cm based on 90% of the fits we do.
Naked 54 should be back in stock early May.

Frame Sizing
Stephen- I currently ride a Felt F1 (56). I know the specs on my race bike won’t match the TD but the Felt specs seem to fall mostly in-between the 54 and 56. I’m 5’10” but feel I may be more comfortable with a 54 for the TD. Any recommendations you could provide with a frame size for me? I can also provide the specs on my Felt frame if that would help. Thanks!

At 5’10 it would be very surprising to see you on a 54cm. You are almost certainly a 56cm unless you have really interesting proportions. When fits go in to the grey area we often recommend a local fitter if you want to be 100% but 95% of our riders fit a very standard fit range and you seem to be a 56cm.

Removable seat stay bridge
Hi,
how does the removable seatstay bridge work? Do you have any photos? I live in Portland and have fenders on for all my winter and spring gravel rides so I need a mount that is very durable and reliable.

The seat stay bridge mounts between the two rack eyelets on the inside of the seat stays. You can still mount the rack using the outside eyelets which leaves the inside two free. We have a small, lightweight stainless steel bridge that mounts between the stays and the fender / mudguard mounts to the bridge. The bridge will follow frameset deliveries by a couple of weeks but it is in production now and we will send them out at no cost to owners. The blue part of the drawing is the main bridge. The yellow is a piece that can flip flop to accommodate 650 / 700c fender mounting positions or simply be used to adjust the gap between the fender and the tire. As with most things we do this design is about max adaptability to as many different fenders as possible.
