RockShox Rudy Ultimate XLPR + Flaanimal 5.0 Ti
Has anyone tried a RockShox Rudy on their Flaanimal 5.0 Ti? It looks like the crown to axle measure is 39mm greater on the RockShox (40mm version). My calcs show this will slacken the HT and ST angle by 2 degrees. I know this will change the handling, but I donโt have a reference to how much of a change Iโm potentially in for. Anyone with an idea on what this change might look like?
Overall, Iโm looking to make the bike a bit more capable on โrowdierโ terrain that Iโll be hitting this summer and just checking out options (short of buying a hard tail mountain bike).
Answer
Jason,
We’ve heard of people installing Rudys and nobody has complained to us about it, but we have not tried it ourselves.
Slackening it will affect handling, and you would notice it initially. It is probably within the range of what you get used to over time though, otherwise the fork wouldn’t be viable on the aftermarket because so few bikes are designed around the fork.

Fender bridge
Hi, I am looking for a fender bridge mount for the flaanimal 5.0. Does the fender bridge for the Traildonkey fit the flaanimal? Or are there other options out there?
Answer
We have two options now. The metal bridge works on both Flaanimal and TD3, and has to be manually shaped a little bit on either frame because it is universal, or we can 3d print a bridge exactly for your frame. Just specify which you prefer when you order and note your frame size in the notes section on the address / checkout page.

Which is lighter?
Is the Flaanimal 5.0 Ti lighter than the 4.0 Traildonkey?
Answer
He E.B.
Traildonkey 4 is going to be at least a pound lighter than Flaanimal Ti for the frame+fork combo.

Pelago Front Rack
Will this rack:
https://pelagobicycles.com/commuter-front-rack-aluminium-medium/
work on Spork 3.0, or will i need to purchase the rack mount adapter tips for the spork?
Thanks
Answer
Howdy! We have not test fit that rack on a Spork. It is possible that it would fit without the offset eyelet kit but it is more probable that the kit would work much better and ultimately make it easier to install the rack.

Touch up paint
How do I get touch up paint for my brown 4.0? Thanks
Answer
Hi Bill,
We no longer stock touch up paint for 4.0. The best way to get a close match easily would be to grab some brown paint swatch cards from a hardware store and hold them up to your frame to find the closest match. When you pick a color go back and order a sample size of that color and that would be more than enough paint to last a lifetime.

Trainer axle on TD3.1
I am trying to replace the original rear axle with a trainer axle(https://www.amazon.com/Kinetic-Traxle-Fine-XL-T-2120/dp/B00SD9CIZA/ref=asc_df_B00SD9CIZA/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312131999963&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8509888933102791366&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9008419&hvtargid=pla-405660313163&psc=1®ion_id=972485)The hanger bolt seems to prohibit this. Is it possible to fit a trainer axle to TD 3.1?
Answer
It does not appear that the axle you have linked would be compatible as the derailleur hanger nut on TD3 is 10mm and an axle is 12mm, so it will not be able to pass through the nut.
It is possible to mount TD3 in trainers that replace the rear wheel (such as wahoo or zwift?).
Flaanimal and TD4 would allow for the use of an axle that threads all the way through such as the linked one.

Fixed Gear
Can the Flaanimal 5.0 be run as a fixed gear?
Answer
Absolutely. The sliding dropouts on Flaanimal 5.0 steel and Ti allow native singlespeed use with no special parts or adapters. The same applies to TD4.

Spork 3.0 rack compatibility
Hi Folks – I understand that you have been able to confirm that some front racks fit on the Spork 3.0. Of course, you cannot vouch for all racks. I wonder if you have any confirmation, one way or the other, for the Tumbleweed T Rack:https://tumbleweed.cc/products/t-rackChris
Thanks,ย Chris from Boston
Answer
Hi Chris,
We haven’t test mounted that rack on a Spork, but based on the adjustable struts we would wager that there is a way to properly mount it.

Spork compression plug torque
What torque do you recommend for installing your compression plug into a Spork 3.0? Thanks.
Answer
There isn’t a specific Nm torque spec. It simply needs to be tight enough to stay in place when the topcap bolt is torqued and used to compress the overall assembly.
5-6 Nm would be a good starting point.
