  • Spork compression plug and topcap

The Spork 3.0 ordering page now shows an option to include a compression plug and topcap. Is it this one?

    https://rodeolabs-temp-production.mystagingwebsite.com/shop/build-components/rodeo-labs-ultra-bespoke-compression-plug/

Also, the Spork page says compression plugs are not included. You may want to update that to say they’re optional.

    Answer

Yes this is the correct compression plug / topcap that is optionally available as a bundle with our forks.

  • Chris King T47 and Easton Cinch

I have a new Flanimal 5 (85.5 BB shell width) and have installed the Chris King T47 30i BB. I have the CK fit kit #5 for installation. My Easton EA90 cranks come with 129mm spindle. Will this work? The instructions I have been able to find at CK and Easton have not made clear the correct set up of spacers, etc.

Any experience with this setup? Any advice?

    Thanks very much

    Answer

    Matt,

The T47 30i is the correct bottom bracket for the crankset, and the Fit Kit #5 also looks correct.
Unfortunately we no longer have a direct account with King, so we can’t give you installation advice based on using their products.

Easton EA90 cranks definitely work with our frame.

Generally speaking spacers are there to take up any excess spindle between the bearing and the crank arm so it should be easy to determine how many spacers that you need with some trial and error. Too few spacers will have play and too many will cause the bearings to bind because of excess copression.

If there is a wave washer supplied with the crank or fit kit that will help take up any micro excess of extra space and should be included in the install.

    Hopefully this helps a bit.

  • Soma Champs Elysees question

Which version of the Soma Champs Elysees fits the Spork 3.0, the regular version or the 130mm wide version? Thanks.

    Answer

When we purchased and tested that rack there was only one version. We had to bend the struts out slightly wider but there were no issues. The fork is actually 127mm wide down at the dropout area and tapers upwards so the 130 should work without issues, but you may end up adding some spacers between the rack and the fork to adjust to correct width. Be sure to use 25mm M5 bolts to mount the rack struts to the mid leg eyelets so that the weight of the fork’s cargo is distributed across double the eyelet area (inner and outer eyelets).

  • Is it safe to use a 180mm rotor with a Spork 3.0?

Also, would doing so violate the warranty?

    Answer

We can’t claim that the fork works and is safe with 180mm because we haven’t tested it with 180mm.

  • Flaanimal internal dynamo cable routing for rear light

Is the Flaanimal 5.0 frame is internally routed for rear dynamo light cables?

    The product page states:
Dynamo routing: Internal fork. Front and rear light, USB stem cap, dynamo hub compatible.
Seems like it is, but where are the port holes for the rear light? I’ve been scouring the internet for an example photo and have come up dry.

    Answer

The rear dynamo light wire would enter through either of the upper downtube ports, then run down the down tube and exit the hole on the lower seat tube. It will have to run externally either up the seat tube or along the non drive side chain stay depending on where you mount the light.

  • Flaanimal compatibility with mechanical post mount brakes

I see the mechanical flat mount slider has a Spring 2022 timeline, is there an updated ETA?

Also… would i be able to use a flat to post mount adapter with this?

    thanks,

    phil

    Answer

We expect to have sliders back in stock by mid March. This assumes our machine shop completes our order on time.

  • add on on to Tubus front rack compatibility question

The original post helped me decide on my purchase of Ortlieb’s front pannier bags with the Tubus Duo front S-style rack. ย Just wanted to add that on the Spork 2.0 with the original 2 eyelet setup rigs up perfectly w/o needing the modified attachment (nice and level, ample clearance from fork and disk brake assembly). Let me know if you’d like pictures.

  • Seatpost Clamp size

Curious if Wolf Tooth 34.9 post clamp will work on Flaminal 5. Published specs for Flanimal show 35mm, but seems like the difference is minimal. Thanks

    Answer

    Yes that will work.

  • Disk diameter at the front

    Hello

What is the maximum disk diameter possible on the carbon fork of the flaanimal 4.0 ?

    I would like to mount a 180 mm ..

    Rgds.

    Olivier

    Answer

160mm is the maximum stated diameter for the frame / fork.
