Rear rack mounting possibilities
What are the mounting possibilities for a rear rack (if any)?
specifically curious if I could migrate my Ortlieb quick rack to the Flaanimal 5.0

We have not specifically mounted an Ortlieb quick rack to the Flaanimal, but it is almost certain that it will fit, as many different brands of rear racks fit with no issues.

Swapping Drivers on Rodeo 2.0 Hub
Hi,
I just ordered an XDR driver for my Rodeo 2.0 Wheels as I’m switching to SRAM cassettes.
What is the procedure for swapping drivers? Similar to DT350/240 (pull), or similar enough to another type that I can reference.

Hi Chris. The procedure is fairly simple. Thread off the non drive side endcap, then pull the drive side end of the axle out of the hub. The freehub body will then remove easily. Be aware: You need to keep the small spacer between the freehub body and the drive side hub bearing when reinstalling. If you don’t, the assembly will bind. Also note the dust seal on the outer bearing of the freehub body.
When re-torquing, just torque hand tight, do not crush the bearings by over torqing.
ALSO: a few drops of blue loctite on the threads of the non drive side endcap will keep it in place. If the endcap works its way loose the pawls can be damaged, so check that it remains snug from time to time.

Converting 15mm axle to 12mm
Hello,
I have Flaanimal 4 and would like to use wheels with 12mm axle.
Currently i have M15xP1,5 130mm.
This “Rodeo Spork 2.0/3.0 Axle Conversion Kit” cover obviously fork but how about rear?
Also searching for axle you don’t have 12mm 130mm, any idea when its going to be available ?

Hi Tigran,
You are correct that for the front you would order that axle conversion kit, including new axle. We sell
The matching front and axle for the rear is also sold here and are provided in the correct length for your fork. Some front axles we’ve supplied are 127mm, some 130mm, but they both work equally well on all of our forks.

Small Steel Flaanimal
I’m not particular on the 4. or 5. series frame. I am in desperate need of a steel external routed(if possible) frame with carbon fork for a 4’11” woman. It looks like the 48cm listed on your chart would work. Is that still possible? I’m in TN.

Hi James. We no longer make the 48cm Flaanimal. The smallest frame that we make is now the 49cm Flaanimal Ti. It could be that it would fit your needs as well as a 48. One great tool for comparing fit is bikeinsights.com. You can pull up two bikes (including all of our models) and see how they overlap visually or via geometry charts.

lighter wheel set needed
I recently purchased a Kona Sutra LTD for an upcoming bikepacking adventure and i’m in a panic about the overall weight. I’m relatively new to bikepacking but experienced gravel and MTB. I have a set of Rodeo Lab 2.0 carbon wheels for my diverge, which i love but not sure if they would be compatible or the right option for the heavier bike. Can you please help me decode finding the right solution for my Kona. These are the specs:

Hi Chris,
The 2.0 carbon rims are easily strong enough to handle what you describe, but heavy weight of bikepacking setups puts more stress on the 2.0 hubs and freehub body, so we have since moved to a 3.0 hub with stronger components to make sure it has failsafe reliability out on big loaded adventures. So, although countless bikepacking adventures have been ridden on 2.0 hubs, we feel that it is best to advise upgrading the rear hub on 2.0 wheels if you’re going to do expedition type riding on them. We can rebuild a 2.0 wheelset with a 3.0 hub for $175 (+ shipping costs).

Total weight
Curious of the total weight on a Flaanimal Apex build with aluminum 700 wheels?

Hi Wade,
We don’t have exactly this bike built here and ready for weighing, but having handled a lot of our bikes over the years, I would estimate this build to come in around 22lbs, +/- a half pound depending on the frame size. This is only an estimate, but it is a good faith estimate.

My bike has a “10.ZS56 Bottom, 10.ZS44 Tall” headset, Will the Rodeo Spork “drop in”?
I see on the Spork 3.0 product page it says “40mm crown seat. 45° split crown race included for easy installation.” I haven’t been able to confirm if that crown race will work with my headset. I know Cane Creek ZS is a pretty standard headset, but I just want to verify before I end up in a bad situation with incompatible parts.

Hi Pete,
Short answer: The fork will work in your frame but you may or may not need a new lower bearing depending on if your lower steer tube taper is a 1.5 or a 1.25. Our fork is a 1.5 lower bearing.

Cable Guides and Hose Routing on Flaanimal 5
Are the removable cable guides on the Flaanimal 5 intended to be used with cable clips/zip ties like standard welded guides? Making sure I wasn’t missing something unique. Also is the rear brake hose routed over the NDS BB shell with no guide etc.?

There are two options. Zip ties work perfectly, and there are also small plastic C-clips that snap into the guides perfectly. Those come with each new frameset. If yours was missing those let us know.
Rear brake hose exits the lower downtube, passes under the bb shell, and attaches to the first seat stay guide. There are also two holes on the bottom of the BB shell that are threaded, and if desired a cable guide can be mounted on those for one more attachment point, but we don’t build that way by default.

weight difference between Spork 3.1 and (upcoming) Spork 3.2 for 45mm offset varieties?
Hi your product page says “Spork 3.2 shaved another 125 grams off of that weight to create an 495 gram, lightweight, and ultra strong fork.” I’m just verifying that the 3.1 (45mm offset) spork is also 495 grams? In other words, the upcoming 45mm 3.2 spork won’t weigh less just have more routing options?

Hi Nate. That is correct. The 45 offset that we currently sell is technically a 3.1 and is already the lighter weight, it just doesn’t have the integrated routing option. There was a Spork 3.0 45mm offset in 2019-2021 that had the current shape but weighed 600+ gr. The 3.2 45 offset will not weigh less than the 3.1.

Shimano Caliper Fixing Screw
For the TD4 rear brake caliper (GRX), we’ll need Shimano 33 (C) & 29 (C2) mm fixing screws. Correct?

Minimum thread engagement stated by SRAM is 5 to 7mm; couldn’t find Shimano as quickly. Our slider is 17.5mm thick. So minimum bolt length is 24mm (washer compensation), up to a max of probably around 30mm before you would bottom out on the inside of the caliper and not be able to tighten it down.
