Flaanimal 5.0
Flaanimal 5.0 has sold out in most sizes, and has been replaced by Flaanimal 6.0 Steel.
5.0 set a new bar for the Flaanimal platform, one that has been in a continuous state of evolution since its inception in 2015. The innovative construction and massively adaptable feature set of this bicycle platform represent what we consider to be a new high water mark for a production steel (and carbon) gravel / adventure bike. Flaanimal is meant to be built and ridden in any way that its rider imagines. It can be blisteringly fast on pavement on skinny slicks. It can be smooth, efficient, and competitive on gravel. With it’s win at the 2021 Tour Divide as piloted by Jay Petervary, Flaanimal has added bikepacking racing to it’s list of proven accomplishments. A quick thanks to the crew at Rodeo Labs for an amazing bike. It fits my oddly proportioned (long torso, short legs) cycling body perfectly!
While I know that randonneuring is not necessarily niche that RL is actively going after, my Flaanimal (Flaandonneur) has seen over 6000k of road and gravel since late March of this year and has been nothing but a complete pleasure to take on whatever challenge I throw at it. I am often in the saddle for up to 20 hours, and while no bike can make that a completely pleasurable experience, the Flaanimal has all of the qualities that take enough of the edge off to help me finish feeling as good as I can.
In June I completed the spring 2026 Super Randonneur series (200k, 300k, 400k and 600k) all well within the required time limits and the Charmed Clover road/gravel Grand Randonee (1200k) in under 60hr moving time. This month, I just completed a 200k climb up Mt. Baker, and will travel back into the mountains next weekend for another 300k. In August, I’m looking forward to traveling to the midwest to take on the brutal Coulee Challenge 1200k grand randonnee and then finishing the Summer 2026 Super Randonneur series as well.
With a grand randonnee already under my belt, I have qualified for early registration for the 2027 Paris-Brest-Paris Grand Randonnee (the oldest cycling event still regularly run on open roads), which has been a goal of mine for the last few years. I will be registering in January and finishing my qualifying rides in June. My Flaanimal has played a big role in making all of this happen.
My Flaanimal has been a great riding companion, and I’m always answering questions about it. If there is anything that I can do to help Rodeo Labs showcase your amazing bikes to the Randonneuring community in the US and beyond, please let me know!
With great appreciation,
Jeff D.
