Flaanimal 4.1 rear tire clearance (with slider movement)
Ive been looking at my 700x42mm tires lately (sliders set all the way forward) and it seems like there would be even more space for 700x48mm with adequate room for debris if I moved the sliders backwards a bit. Do you guys ever tried to squeeze tires in after moving the sliders back/any experience with 700×48 on the rear of the flaanimal 4.1?

I have a very good customer of ours who would like to buy a Donkey. He’s made me aware of the Rodeo Labs brand, and seeing as we are really into our gravel and off road riding here, I’d be really interested to know if we could be a retailer for Rodeo?

Thanks for the note. We’d love to build relationships in the UK in the future especially since we don’t sell there direct due to how complex VAT is. We can’t quite do that until supply chain stabilizes through. Hopefully that will be in 2022! -
Flaanimal 5.0 for short legs
I’m looking at getting a Flaanimal 5.0 but I’m not sure about sizing. I’m 5’8″ but I have short legs/long torso. My inseam with bike shoes is 30″ and both my cross and touring bikes at 50cm are perfect for standover. I would be looking to run 700 x 2.1-2.3″ tires.

By our size chart you would be a 54cm.
But be advised on the tire sizes that you listed that 700×2.1 is at the very limites of what Flaanimal fits. It is okay to run in the dry but in mud / clay you will rub. Nothing larger than 700×2.1 will fit the frameset and honestly the bike rides better with 650×2.3 than it would at 700×2.3 if it could even fit 700×2.3

Max fender size for 650B x 47
Hello,
I recently picked up some PDW full-metal beast fenders (55mm) and the fit seems too close for comfort, both to the frame/fork and tire.
Can you recommend the max fender size (width) running 650B to safely fit the flaanimal 4.1? And maybe even better, some product recommendations?
Im not needing an exceptional amount of clearance for mud buildup, just Portland wet grime mostly. Iโm running 47 mm Teravail Cannonballs and wondering if I need to downsize. Or alternatively, upgrade to a 5.0.

Looks like Velo Orange has the only other option for larger 650 tires. Unfortunately you will need to drop to a smaller tire on 4.1. 42mm Max.

Advice on installing rubber cable guides in Flaanimal frame
Any advice from your bike builders on getting the rubber cable guides into the frame?ย These little buggers seem to fit very tightly!ย (A video would be super cool!).

A small flathead screwdriver helps tremendously with seating those in place.

Does the listed chain stay length of 425 represent the mid-position of the sliding dropouts?
On the 5.0 the chainstay length is listed as 425. Can you clarify what the full range with the siding dropouts is? Thanks

2020 Specialized Epic Compatibility
I have a 2020 Specialized Epic HT (Boost frame) that I’m wanting to turn into a flat bar gravel bike, and was wondering if the Spork 1.2 would be compatible with the frame.

Flananimal vs Trail Donkey
What are the differences (and applications) between the Flananimal and the Trail Donkey?
Answer
The Traildonkey is a carbon fiber frameset. It is lighter than the Flaanimal, and perhaps a bit more racey.
The Flaanimal is similar in geometry to the TD but is heavier due to steel main construction. The Flaanimal does offer more tire clearance and better native singlespeed compatibility due to the sliding dropouts.
The bikes overlap 80-90% on a venn diagram. -
Spork 1.2 Color
Hello –
The Spork 1.2 says the matte 3k carbon finish is only available to builders, but that is the only option available in the drop-down when selecting color. Is that the only color available? Can anyone purchase that fork?

Those product names were a bit confusing. I just corrected them. Standard 3k carbon is available to anyone. RTP is builder only.
